Can someone explain what middle 50% means?...

Middle 50% of UCSD
First-Year Students Percent Who Submitted Scores
SAT Critical Reading: 540 - 660 72%
SAT Math: 600 - 700 72%
SAT Writing: 560 - 670 72%

<a href="http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=991&profileId=6%5B/url%5D">http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=991&profileId=6</a></p>

Does it mean 72% scored between 540-660 for CR, 72% scored between 600-700 for math and so on...? or what does it mean

Middle 50% of UC Berkeley

First-Year Students Percent Who Submitted Scores
SAT Critical Reading: 580 - 710 99%
SAT Math: 620 - 740 99%
SAT Writing: 590 - 710 99%

The 72% is the percent of people who submitted the SAT...it has nothing to do with what people scored.

When they have 540-660, the middle 50% is in between those numbers. 540 is the 25th percentile and 660 is the 75th percentile. So a score of 600 would put you right in the middle.
