@Jahm1820 I am so glad your tour was better than ours. From all the feedback, I think we’ve decided that it is worth our application fee and then if he is accepted and the financial package is doable, we will definitely go back when school is in session, perhaps for an admitted student session or whatever they offer like that. I bleed blue and white (I’m a PSU alum), but I am warming up to orange as well.
Full disclosure–we only spent one day at Syracuse and my son did not apply for unrelated reasons. We were both surprised out of our minds by how much we liked Syracuse. We had gone to Cornell the day before and were really disappointed, and only stopped by Syracuse the next day because that’s where we stayed. I loved the campus–felt like “college” with orange banners everywhere and huge school spirit. We met two female students talking on the lawn of the quad and they told us how much they loved the school. One girl said that in three of her classes her professors noticed how engaged she was and gave her a “golden ticket” which I believe gave her priority registration! I also loved the Dinosaur BBQ located off campus. I’m from the west coast, but I found the city charming. Syracuse was not even on our radar but moved up to my son’s primary safety school–after he got EA elsewhere he didn’t apply. We were both really impressed. Hope your son has a great experience wherever he goes.
