Can someone please give me advice

Can someone please give me advice regarding my current situation:
I am a Junior and recently I just moved to California. The new school is VERY competitive and is currently ranked 76th in the nation. Due to the move, I was very dejected and apathetic during the first semester of my Junior year since I had to give up many, many leadership positions and the general familarity with my old school. Before the move, I was ranked 1/714. But this year...I f#$!!ed up real bad. I got straight B's for first semester (which is, surprisingly, average for this school. Not super bad. Only maybe 8/700 got straight A's). [sign] Eventhough all six classes are AP, I still feel really bad and feel like I just screwed over everything I had worked for. Before this fiasco, I had a 4.0 unweighted. Now, I don't even know.

Because of my poor perfomance, I am very determined now and am resolved to get all A's again. But, I just want to know if i really screwed myself for the "good" college and if it is too late. what should i do?

Relax.....

Uni High? Relax...

"I got straight B's for first semester (which is, surprisingly, average for this school..."

Must be a pretty good school, then.
I'm sure your life's experiences, personal qualities, and motivation will make up for any academic struggles.
And, of course, colleges do consider instability in a student's academic career.

thanks a lot guys.

I am really trying to relax and calm down...
I'm working really hard right now so that there will not be a repeat of that fiasco...
A lot of kids at my school have mediocre GPA's (3.7 3.8 uw) and go to fantastic schools (berkeley, etc).

oh man....breathe.....breathe..........

p.s. TheGirlsLoveMe how did you know?

Irvine Ivy, My DD also moved at the beginning of her Junior year from one area of the country to another. Like you, she was an officer, President of her class, and had lots of ECs at her old school. She tried, but was not successful, to get elected to office to a few clubs in her new school.

I distinctively recall speaking with an adcom at Stanford, where my DD was accepted, and she said that they took into account any life changes, such as moving in the middle of High School, when making admission decisions. You may want to consider writing one of the essays for your application(s) on the impact that moving had on you and how you were able to adapt to this life change.

Check the naviance of your school. GC can also write about the fact that you are new to the school and need time to adjust.
