For feedback and possible grammar fixes
Will PM if interested
Hey there! Feel free to PM me. Duke alum here.
I would like to take a look!
This is the standard warning:
Please do NOT send your essay to anyone without a proven posting history.
Click on the name. You should see evidence of a career, kids, something that indicates both a background in college essays and no reason to want to “borrow” yours. There should be a logical reason for the person to be here on a teen college site.

"You should see evidence of a career, kids, something that indicates both a background in college essays "
how do you see this by clicking on the name? I just see how many posts they’ve made and how many likes, agrees, etc. they’ve gotten. how do you see evidence of the things you mention above?
For essay review, I would seek objective people you know who will really give you an honest critique. Teachers, parents, friend’s parents, etc. who you respect. S had my brother and a family friend (both very good writers, top university, etc.) review and give honest feedback.
S didn’t like it at first as it was obvious he had a lot more work in front of him, but it made sense and worked out in the end.
These forums are a bit risky for something important like college essays.
Take a look at the threads they’ve started, the comments they’ve made.
lol, i didn’t know I could do this. thanks, bjkmom!
To be honest, you could just pay $15-20 to find a solid reviewer that has an admissions-type history online to get the best reviews. It’s hard to find people on here that you can really trust or that have a solid track record, and paying a small amount is worth it if you’re looking for really good feedback IMO.
^I disagree. If you see a user with thousands of posts who has been on CC who’s willing to read your essay, I say go for it. Don’t pay anyone.
^ That’s true, if it’s someone with thousands of posts maybe. Even then, IMHO it’s hard to say if they have any real adcom experience, whereas there’s plenty of people with actual resumes and verified backgrounds from ivy league adcoms committees that do reviews for a small fee (relative to getting into a college).
I saw the people above with <100 posts saying “I’ll take a look!” and was speaking specifically about those types of users.
Your best bet is likely to be your English teacher, who teaches Senior English every year and knows what he or she is doing.
But when my daughter had an essay written, I ran it by 2 or 3 of the people here whose opinions I trust. Their feedback was just what my daughter needed.
