Tell me everything you know/think I should know. What is the community like? Quirky? Artsy? Passionate? Do they smoke/drink a lot? If I choose to be straight-edge, will I be fine there? I'm white, but I hear it's for URM -- is this true?

My daughter lives in 200 Church and loves it. As you might have noticed, it is the smallest dorm and its size has contributed to a more intimate environment that has eased her transition to college. It’s hard to characterize the population. They are somewhat quirky, but I am not sure they are any quirkier than your average group of 25 Wes students. From what I can tell, it is not dominated by URMs. My daughter is Asian, but her roommate is white and judging by all the parents and kids I met at Homecoming weekend, i would say that more than half the dorm’s students are white. My daughter did not drink or smoke before college and is still somewhat judgmental towards those who do either to excess. Hope this is helpful.

If you choose to be straight-edge you’ll totally be fine there. A good half of the Churchies leave 200 Church and go to nearby Clark or Westco for fun; those who do drink or smoke would much rather do it outside of 200 Church.

It’s not explicitly for minorities, though a good number (I’d say over half, reading the names on the dormroomdoors is like reading the ingredients in a shampoo bottle) of them are, in part becuase half of the Freeman Asian Scholars live there.
