this is probably a very random question, but are there any dorms with kitchens in them so students can cook for themselves?

I think every dorm has at least one kitchen, but most of them aren't in very good shape, and quite a few a rather small. They're not large/nice/convenient enough to regularly cook in them, but if you want to make a dinner for your friends every once in awhile, or bake some cookies, you'll be fine. As a freshman, you'll have a humongous meal plan, so it doesn't really matter. Upperclassmen often live in apartments where they can cook.

i (a freshman) live in an apartment and do cook for myself (freshman in most apartments can sign up for a lesser meal plan which amounts to like 5 meals every week)

i was on the meal plan for maybe 3 weeks and it was a good amount of food (i was on one of the lowest ones too)

the housing and dining website has plenty of info about what buildings/rooms have what facilities

if you do get a regular meal plan I'd get one with lots of dinex..I'll never go back to that though :)

My d was in Donner and it had a very nice kitchen in the lobby area, I think she baked some cakes occasionally but as krazykow said it was not real convenient for using on a regular basis.
