I want a medium/large school in a city or suburb, and one of my biggest sellers is if I can cook on campus. I'm really big on healthy eating and I LOVE to make my own food, so does anyone know any campus' that have available kitchens to use, or dorms/livin spaces with a kitchen?

Many schools require that freshman who live on campus must have a meal plan.

A couple quick thoughts/questions …

Is a common kitchen for your floor of the dorm OK? Or are you looking for a personal kitchen in your room/suite? The former is very common … the latter is less so.

I’m not sure how often you would like to cook for yourself however group dining hall meals are a prime social time for many groups of friends.

If you’re looking for a kitchen in the room, the only school i can think of right off the bat is the towers housing at CUNY City College. Other than that if you Live on campus, chances are you’ll have to have a meal plan, and you would also have a communal kitchen.

Some schools have co-op housing, which would give you access to a full kitchen, although some of the meals prepared by others might be questionable.
There are also many schools that do not require freshman to live on campus and you could get an apartment nearby with your own kitchen.

I cook for myself too
From what I’ve seen, most colleges have communal kitchens, but I don’t know how busy they’d be if you’re going to cook 3x a day. Many colleges allow you to have a fridge and microwave in your room, so if you learn how to cook healthy microwave meals, that could be useful.
If you’ve been cooking for yourself for a long time, I see no reason why you should give that up just for college. :/

University of Washington allows freshman to live in campus apartments instead of dorms.

Univ. of South Carolina…many freshmen end up in apt style housing that includes kitchen…but no guarantee you get in those buildings.

If you like to cook, and you will cook, and you have transportation available to do your shopping, living off campus or in an on-campus apartment can be a good idea. However, usually on-campus apartments are more expensive than basic dormitories, so you would need to check your budget. It may work out best to live in the dorm, and eat in the dining hall.

Dining options vary greatly from one campus to another. When you visit pay careful attention to the types of food available. More than one campus didn’t make Happykid’s edibility cut.
