I was thinking of doing alternate versions of the entire application for other colleges but have the essay customized. Then I read this on the PDF preview:

Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve, and attach it to your
application before submission. NOTE: Your Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Do not customize it in any way for individual colleges.
Colleges that want customized essay responses will ask for them on a supplement form.

Will this reduce my chances? I already have the essay done.

Also quick thing, where do you choose the specific program you are applying to/where can you apply to more than one program per school?

Hi 3041LAG, you can create an “alternate” version of common app to put a different essay in for a different college. Under instructions, you will see directions for “alternate versions.” It basically creates a copy of the application except for the uploaded documents. You can name it for different schools. It helps because the common app essay my son did beforehand was already asked and answered on a couple of supplement essays, so he had to do a different essay for those schools. Takes a few minutes but make sure to print preview everything. Good luck!
