I may be unable to pay the orientation fee at the University of Texas-Austin. I come from an extremely low income family (less that 10000 per year), and I had my admissions fees waived. Is there any way to waive that orientation fee as well?

Also, is it worth it to stay at the college overnight. Initially, I had signed up to commute, but I do live 2.5 hours away. Would it be worth it to spend the night there.

Well since I’m an LOS scholar they deferred my payment. They wait for me to pay for it when I get my financial aid. I thInk if you have certain circumstances such as your’s they may defer the payment until you receive your financial aid. You should call and find out to be exact. 2.5 hrs is pretty far so maybe you should stay on campus for orientation and it cost $216 for orientation and rooming for orientation that includes a $40 meal card I believe.

What if I can’t attend one of the Summer Orientation sessions?

You should plan to register for Fall Orientation (online registration will be available beginning June 1). Fall Orientation is scheduled for August 22-23, 2012.
