Can This Kind of Student Be Considered "Full Time?"

I have always wondered this:

Is a student considered "full-time" if he/she enrolls in two seperate colleges part-time and takes/completes 12+ between the two separate institutions during a semester?

harvard and Yale, no biggie

In essense, any two.

Two top tier schools, a university and a CC… Any combination.

Full time by whose standards? Each college/university’s own tuition-billing system? FAFSA?

It is not unheard of for people to be simultaneously enrolled in two distinct educational institutions, but this choice poses many challenges unless the two programs are specifically coordinated (for example RISD & Brown). If you are contemplating doing something like this, sit down with an academic counselor at each institution, and talk about how it can be made possible for you.

It isn’t something that I am considering, but I’ve always been interested in if it was possible (and it has been a question I can’t seem to easily find the answer to on Google).

Standard-wise: I believe that to be dual-enrolled, the student would have to be seeking a degree at one of the colleges and be a nonmatriculated student at the other. But if a student is dual-enrolled in two separate colleges and is a full time student by completing at least 12 credits between the two, is that student still considered to be a full-time student to outside companies/organizations (ie: healthcare or car insurance, etc.)?
