Can Transfer Credits be Revoked?

I am a graduate student who previously worked on another graduate degree at a different university. Let’s call current school X and previous school Y.

I was admitted to X as a new student (not a transfer student) with an undergraduate degree and was later able to successfully transfer credits from program Y into current program at X as per the department’s requirements (particularly: I had not earned a degree from the other program).

However, I was one credit short of finishing program Y and would like to re-enroll online at Y to finish the degree (while still enrolled as a student in X).

Will my current school (X) revoke my graduate transfer credits (which have already been added to my transcript) if I finish the program at Y?

You need to ask the folks at X about this. Was the credit transfer only permitted because the degree had not been finished? Or would it have been possible to transfer the same credits if the degree had been completed? Some grad programs do acept a fair number of precious grad credits from completed programs.

Is there a time limit on completing that last credit at Y? How soon will you finish at X? It may make more sense to finish X first, then finish Y.
