Anyone have any info share about getting waitlisted? Stats from former years, info from students, etc. I'd really like to more about the situation besides what they told me.

last year 29 students in WL are later offered the admission to CC..

ahha...great...any idea of how many committed to the waitlist?

so i was waitlisted at Columbia, UPenn, Brown, and Dartmouth

all 4 of them!
it feels
very
bizarre

Yep, waitlisted for Fu SEAS =/
Ah well...looking forward to spending time at Berkeley over Spring Break :)

I think I'll take the spot in Columbia and Duke. Que sera sera!

I guess I'll waitlist myself for Columbia, Stanford, and Harvard. =]

anyone know the past statistic on how many are waitlisted/how many are taken off the waitlist?

I was waitlisted last year for SEAS, but I got in. I got an acceptance email on May 17th, and the acceptance letter I got was exactly the same as the RD acceptance letter. I also got my DHL package a few days later.

Just an fyi, make sure that you know whether or not you would go to Columbia if you choose to remain on the waitlist. They give you exactly a week to send in a deposit AND send in your housing survey.

By the way, if any of you have any question about the waitlist or Columbia in general, feel free to PM me. :)

Did you make a deposit at another school?

lol i got waitlisted at Fu...im an international not asking for aid, will that help ? :(
also, i got an email saying that i will hear between May 15th to June 1st, that doesnt make sense, because by that time, you would have decided to enroll somewhere right?

of course..that's why they need a waiting list..

Yes, I had made a deposit to CMU. You'll end up sending a deposit to another school, and you'll have to make yet another deposit to Columbia if you are accepted.

Did you right a supplementary essay for your waitlisted? If so, was it like a college essay or was it a list of things?

you can turn in supplementary essays?

oooppps.....I meant write*......xD

Do people who get off the waitlist have the last pick of housing/classes?

I submitted my art portfolio and a recommendation from a family friend I knew really well (a Columbia Business School alum) after I got waitlisted.

And no, I got the most popular freshman dorm -- Carman. All housing decisions are given out on the same day (early June), regardless of when you applied/didn't apply. Also, my friend has the smallest dorm on the floor and she is a John Jay Scholar (top 25-30 applicants in the class).

Really? Did last year allow you to submit letters of recommendations? This time, my letter says that they do not want me to do that. x_X

I did anyway, but I knew him really well. I wouldn't recommend it unless this Columbia alum knows you well enough to write a GOOD recommendation.

In any case, submit a good letter.

Son signed the waitlist. As far as a deposit to another school, he will have to choose between UCLA with $4500 loans /$2200 work study or full ride to Rice plus benefits. (I think he'll choose UCLA)
