Can you apply early action to one school and early decision to another?

I want to apply ED to University of Pennsylvania

I want to apply EA to University of Chicago.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I think so. Best to check with Penn though. I don’t think Penn has SCEA like Harvard, Yale and Princeton do. My D applied ED to Cornell and EA to UChicago and also to our state flagship, but once Cornell admitted her, she had to pull her application at UChicago and state flagship from consideration.

Here is what Penn says about their ED process:

EA allows you to apply EA to other schools as well, but ED is tricky because there’s a stipulation that you will not apply ED to any other public/private university (conflict of interest if you get accepted into two ED binding schools). EA and ED should work as long as it’s 1 ED only.

Thanks for this thread! Had been wondering this for a long time!
