I want to get into a college for electrical engineering but the only teacher who actually kind of likes me is my English teacher. I already asked her through an email and she responded saying she would and to send her an email saying what major I want to go into, and now I’m wondering if I’m going to look stupid saying I want to go into engineering.
We have been advised to seek out math or science teachers from the junior year for recommendations for intended engineering major. I think that 2 are typically requested by many colleges - if English is one - this could be useful to should breadth of capability, communication, logic and many other skills important to engineers - can the other one be from a math or science teacher you had as a junior?
I’m getting two recommendations, one from my English teacher (from my last school, I transferred senior year) and one from my current math teacher. Is this good?
No, it isn’t stupid. Many schools ask for recommendations from both humanities and stem fields.
edit: however I would still try and get a recommendation from a stem teacher since you’re going into engineering. There isn’t a math or science teacher who you had a good relationship with?
Yes I’m getting one from my Algebra teacher
My son had one from an English teacher, but did get a math teacher recommendation. None of his science teachers liked him that much, or were kind of outre.
He got into an engineering school. Most schools that required one or no recommendations would take two total.
Okay thank you guys
