Hey guys, I got a stupid question that I think nobody knows the answer. I'm not a US citizen so I don't have the US passport. There's my birth name in my passport which, in the United States I don't wanna get identified with. What can I do for college enrollment, can I use my current name to apply to a college, of course I can't!! but what can I do if my passport's name is "A" and I'm using the name "A" for application and enrollment but in the US and college and in front of you I wanna be known as "B"?? please write something if you know anything

There may be legal and/or administrative ways to handle this. I don’t know. There are also things you can do for yourself.

In a big lecture, your professor will probably never say your name aloud, so that won’t be a problem. In a small class, where it is likely that your professor or TA will call your name aloud, try to speak to the instructor on the first day of class, before attendance has been called. Tell the instructor your preference. Unless the instructor is a jerk, he/she will cross out your old name on the attendance sheet and pencil in your preferred name.

This is actually quite common, because people often go by their middle name or a nickname instead of the name on the roster, and most instructors want to say the name that makes you comfortable.

But of course some instructors really are jerks and nothing will fix them.

I don’t ever recall any class besides my language class were a class roster was ever read. If you’re in a discussion sort of class, you’ll introduce yourself. In larger classes, the instructor does not know the people on the class registration list.
