Is it worth paying all that money for GWU? I got into St. John's University in Queens with approx. $27K off per year! I like NYC a little more than DC, so what do you think I should do?

So if the only way I can go to GWU is if I take mostly loans and some cash likely 20K out of pocket, would GW be worth it?

But if I were to got to STJ, I would likely not have to take out loans. The only issue I see is that STJ may not be as respected as GWU. I don't want to be looked down upon after college.

Advice CCers?

GW would put you tens of thousands in debt, and you don’t like DC as much as NYC? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Deep in debt is no way to start your post-college life if you can avoid it.

None of these people seem to have suffered very much from having a St John’s degree:

It’s a family decision, really, as to how much a family can pay has saved, can borrow for a member’s college. We set certain cost limits, and anything within them was up to the student. You need to discuss this with your parents and ask them what they think, given how you feel about the situation.

I agree with Coureur that deep debt is something to avoid, on your part as well as for your parents.
