Can you earn two bachelor's at Vanderbilt University

Just curious

You can have more than one major. I am not sure if you are awarded more than one degree. I think it’s just one Bachelors, unless perhaps they are different degree programs (e.g. a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Art). Even then it still may just be one degree.

When you walk across the stage at Commencement, you get your real diploma inside the cover. Some other schools just award diploma covers and mail the diploma later. However, Vanderbilt has a week between the conclusion of finals and Commencement, known to most as “beach week”. This allows the registrar to perform the final graduation audit and verify the credentials to be awarded. All that said, I don’t think anyone gets to cross the stage and receive two credentials as an undergraduate. I think Pancake’s response is correct and you receive the degree from your “home” college even if you have an additional major from a different school.

During D’s Commencement year, one of the Founders Medal recipients was graduating from the Med School and from the Divinity School and had an amazing story of using his medical training to establish a community clinic outreach. However, I think his actual completion dates were different (either 6 months or a year different). Under those circumstances, I’m sure you would receive two different degrees.

Thank you
