Can You Feel the Tension?

Just your typical chances thread. I must be neurotic or something because college apps are haunting me in my nightmares now...

Information:

Eth: Indian
Sex: Male
State: NJ
Grad Year: 2009
Major: Biomedical Engineering (probably w/ premed focus)
School: Very Competitive (I am submerged in a sea of Asian nerds daily...it's awful)
Courseload: Counselor has told me she will indicate "most rigorous" on app.
Grading System: (frosh/soph) A- = 90-95%; A = 95%+ :(
(junior/senior) A - = 90-92%; A = 93%+ :)
*GPA is a combo of the two scales so kinda skewed

*Frosh/Soph/Junior GPA: *

UW - 3.84; W - 4.19

Soph/Junior GPA:

UW - 3.88; W - 4.31

GPA Summary:

A mixture of A’s and A-‘s with two career B+’s (one in AP English and one in Alg II Honors (the most horrendous teacher I have ever had, end of story)). My GPA, however, is still relatively competitive in my school, thankfully.

Rank:

School doesn't submit rank to colleges. Pretty sure, however, that I’m in the top 5% of ~700 students. With some luck, I'm in the top 20.

AP's (Total of 11):

Physics B (4)

Chemistry (5)

Calculus BC (5)

English Language and Composition (4)

Computer Science A (4)

Biology (taking)

Art History (taking)

Economics (taking)

Statistics (taking)

English Literature (taking)

Computer Science AB (taking)

*All other courses = Honors (except 2 yrs of Foreign Lang, PE, and 2 yrs of computer-related electives)

Scores:

SAT: M - 800; CR - 740; W - 800; T - 2340 (1540)
SAT IIs: Chem – 800; Math II – 800; Possibly one more in October

Recs:
Counselor - Awesome: I had an interview with her and she had some flattering comments about my personality = good sign?
Teachers - One good from Eng more about personality (not the highest eng grade in class unfortunately (B+), but it is considered one of our school's toughest classes). One likely awesome rec from AP Chem teacher.
Supplemental - Possibly JSA advisor (who is very fond of me). Definitely prof from Rutgers who was my research mentor.

Thanks in advance!

I'm new this, so my opinion should mean diddly squat.

I think you're aiming too low.

It doesn't get much better than the schools he is applying to. Good list.

Columbia, Duke, Penn are not definites, but the are not sure things for anyone. You have a very good shot at getting in everywhere else. Best of luck.

You've gotten chanced before. I remember you.

thanks for the responses

ab2013: Yeah...I'm just THAT worried about this.

You wouldn't have to be so worried if you just used the WAMC Calculator -- that way you wouldn't have to double post either...I didn't get any responses the first time I tried to get chanced, so I had to turn my faith over to that haha

good cahnces iguess

Alright bumping it up...any more?

Some more responses?

you've got terrific stats! and prb in at most apart from the not so sure columbia, duke and penn!

chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/560692-northwestern-umichigan-john-hopkins-chance-me-please-ill-chance-u.html

Thanks for the response. I'm really hoping for Penn ED, but I'd be happy to go to any of the colleges on my list! You have very good chances for all of your school and Columbia, UChicago will be the tougher ones. I'd say in at NU ED though. Good luck!

30% for penn i'd say. strong applicant, but i've seen many stronger

if you have such a competitive school, i'm sure the admissions officers would take note of that.

UPenn prob mid reach

JHU not sure, prob reach

Cornell mid reach as well

Columbia reach

Duke in

Carnegie Mellon in. my retarted (not really lol, but not as much achievements and grades like you) friend last year got in >_>

UMich ? not sure, they prefer the ACT to the sat, but with your scores (lol crazy), i'd say match, but maybe slight reach since you're out of state...

Penn State ? lol never heard of it, so i can't judge it very well

lol at the sea of asian nerds. i wasn't aware that nj was a popular asian state lol. usually its cali...

My username is among the most common stereotypes you'll find on this website (and a bit of satire to dull the pain of my situation). Thanks.

You're fine. I wish I had your stats. You might even look at more Ivies if you would like.

thanks I appreciate it!

wow bumped down to the lowly depths of the third page...lol

.............................................

Givin it a jumpstart....
