I have been admitted to UCSD and other private schools. I am afraid that I won't be able to complete my degree in 4 years at UCSD where at the privates I will. The privates are a little more in costs but if UCSD is going to take me 5 yrs to graduate then the privates would be cheaper. I am a business major.

Business, as in what? What’s the specific major? There isn’t a business major/program at UCSD, although there is Economics, Joint Economics-Math, and Management Science.

If you’re any of those three majors, you will most likely graduate in four years or less, as the requirements aren’t as heavy as the engineering majors and will not take long to complete. Of course, it also depends on the college you got into and its specific GE reqs. Here is a sample four year plan, for Management Science majors that doesn’t include GEs: http://economics.ucsd.edu/ugrad/ugradPDFs/msmajor_4yrplan_postF07.pdf

I’m in ERC which arguably has the second largest GE requirements. I’m also Management Science. I came in with a good amount of AP credits, so I’m on track to graduate either Spring of my third year or Fall of my fourth year. It’s easily doable for a Management Science major because we will rarely have to wait for classes till a later quarter. What I mean by that is most kids that are here for longer than four years had to wait for a lab, or major specific class, for a few quarters. Consequentially they are off track to graduate in four years. This happens most often with engineering or bio students though.

I was in ERC (2nd highest # of GEs) and I graduated in 3 years. Very doable!

Thank you…I was accepted into UCSD as an Econ major. I got into Muir…plus I have about 8 AP’s with scores of 4 or 5…I am trying to weigh a UC and their financial problems with a private 4 yr University that might cost alittle more but I will get out in 4 yrs.

Yes Yes Yes
You can graduate in 4 years.
I am TMC-Bioengineering/Biotech, and I am planning to finish in 4 years with only 4 AP.
