Can you get rejected from Robertson and get a different scholarship at Duke?

Im a rising senior out of SC. Based on the descriptions of merit scholarships on Duke’s website, I feel like I have the best chance (albeit still a small chance) of receiving the B.N. scholarship. I was thinking about still applying to Robertson to maximize any chance I have of getting a scholarship, but I wouldn’t want to do that if it decreases my chance for B.N.

If I were to become a semifinalist for Robertson, would that mean that I don’t have a chance of getting B.N?

Does anyone know if students have been rejected as a Semifinalist/Finalist at Robertson and ended up getting a different Duke Scholarship, or if that’s even possible?

I know it’ll be very unlikely I get a scholarship anyways, but I’d like to take a path that maximizes the chance that I do have.

Thanks!

Hey!

This isn’t exactly what you asked, but I applied for the Robertson and was rejected before the semifinalist round. A few months later, I won a different merit scholarship at Duke.

I’m not 100% sure about how the scholarship process works, so take this with a grain of salt, but I’m pretty sure the two scholarships are from different groups (so applying for the Robertson shouldn’t affect your chances at becoming a finalist for the B.N. Duke scholarship).

B.N. Duke is awarded by the Office of University Scholars and Fellows, while the Robertson scholarship is through the Robertson Leadership Program.
