Say you didn't get into a school of your choice and you're planning to take the cc route for two years to transfer to a good uc. With the AP and IB credit one has accumulated, is it possible to enter community college as a sophomore and transfer within a year? If it depends on the amount of credit, lets say I have about 7 AP courses worth of credit and 1 IB courses worth.

Yes, AP credits will accelerate your process to being able to transfer (they count as units toward the minimum of 60 semester / 90 quarter)… Rather tremendously, but you should check out the schools you want to apply for and exactly how many units you’ll be getting–for 7 APs + 1 IB it should be a lot and I think 1 year is certainly possible for making the transfer.

Graduating community college is something different than getting the minimum units to transfer–you’ll have to check up on what GE’s those APs cover and what you still have left to go as well as finish up on a major in the community college.

P.S. I attend a CSU (some are very generous) with ridiculous amounts of AP credit and could get a B.S. degree in 2 years if I wasn’t doing engineering.

@tangentlineThanks for the insight, although I’m still kind of confused which path I should undergo. If you wouldn’t mind taking a look at my latest post, I would greatly appreciate that.
