If you guys see me as a fit for any other Florida colleges, please tell me.

Your SAT score is very good, you could also apply to miami u, are you oos or in state ?

In state, but the U is just too expensive for me.

Are you willing to go oos ? I could give you a good list that you qualify for good merit…

I can go oos but money has to be okay. I don’t want to have debt my entire life.

So you qualify for 15,000$ at WVU which will make it 20,000$ OOS
Also Ohio U which could become around 20k
And Ecu which is around 30K
If your interested in private schools then ST, Johns in NYC gives good merit

Your SAT qualifies you for the top level of Bright Futures, as long as you have 100 volunteer hours. Because of recent changes, this will give you 100% tuition and fees and $300 a semester for books. No OOS school can touch that. Also, UCF will probably give you merit. If you really want to graduate without debt, stay in state.

Bright Futures paying 100% was only approved for this (2017-2018) school year. It was put into this years budget but they stopped short of approving a change to the statute. They have said it will again be a hot topic next legislative year and lets all hope they get the statute changed to keep it 100% for those at highest level. Instate is still often the best bang for your buck.

Wow didn’t realize the amount of aid given by Bright Futures. I always knew it was plenty but not that much. Thank you very much @UCFin2018 and @candyce1, you guys definitely made my decision a lot easier.

Just keep in mind that BF 100% tuition has not been verified after summer 18!!! We all hope it will be, but if it isn’t it may go back to $103 per credit hour. We may not know the outcome until July 2018 when the legislative session is over.

@ufmomfriend does that mean someone who graduates HS in 2018 with bright futures will not be able to utilize the 100% tuition when they enter a Florida university in the Fall of 2018?

If I understand this correctly…Gov. Scott vetoed the bill that would raise BF to 100% tuition after the appropriations bill that contained the extra money was passed. I know…confusing at best. 2 different bills. But anyway, since the money was approved and budgeted thru the appropriations bill, it was decided to disburse the funds this year thru summer 18. The Florida legislature is going to try to get the actual BF legislation passed to make it more permanent, but this may not happen until late spring 18. Generally changes to the BF program are not announced until July after the legislative session ends.
So everyone hopes that the legislature can get this done and 100% will continue for the foreseeable future…but there are no guarantees.

Remember that when BF was first started years ago it was at 100% and was whittled down thru legislation thru the years!!! The payments went way down as the requirements went way up.

I’m just trying to be practical in my answer by saying “Who knows…it hasn’t been decided yet”.
Sorry…not what any of us want to hear.

This is true. Rick Scott vetoed the bill last year. But because of other reasons. He said he would sign it if they dropped some things he didn’t like. Which they did. But they also made other changes, so who knows if he will like those. The first committee meeting on the bill was Monday. It was unanimously approved. https://m.flsenate.gov/Bill/00004

Oh i didn’t mean to imply that Gov Scott vetoed the bill because of BF. I heard he was for it, but it went down necessarily with the the rest of the bill. I hope they can get it thru since “everyone” is in favor of the change. Unfortunately the nature of the legislative process can have unintended casualties, as witnessed by what happened last session. Here’s hoping it will stick this year!!!
