I am searching for private high schools in MA, CT, NY, PA area, especially around Boston, New York city. Can you guys give me some suggestions ? If you guys know that whether these schools accept international students and give financial aid to them, that will be great.

I am an international students and applying for Financial aid

It’s generally hard for an international student to get financial aid wherever you apply (sorry…).

I’d look for schools with bigger financial aid endowments.

On this website, you’ll see the “HADES” acronym a lot. They refer to the 5 schools that are considered first tier, which is Hotchkiss (CT/MA, I forget :P), Andover (MA), Deerfield (MA), Exeter (NH), St. Paul’s School (NH). It’s often argued that Choate (the same area… CT?) should also be included.

There a lot more other great schools out there, these are just the ones I know better (since I’m applying to them, haha).

What country are you from? If your country is under represented, it might increase your chances!

I think there was a thread roughly along the lines of “schools with >50% acceptance rate”. You might want to look for it. (It should be in the newest 5 pages…)

If you get tired of waiting for someone to reply, another place to do some personal research might be boardingschoolreview.com. Some of the statistics might be a bit outdated, but it gives an effective gist of the school.

there’s a lot of day privates in Boston…like
BU academy
Roxbury Latin (if you’re a boy)
Winsor (if you’re a girl)
St.John’s Prep (if you’re a boy)
i don’t know if it’s an option but Boston Latin School is a public school and it’s said to be really good…i think you take the ISEE to get in?

There are so many day schools in the Boston area. Also, as someone else already said, a lot of boarding schools have at least a small day student population. Some schools in the greater Boston area are: Milton Academy (it is 50/50 boarding, I think), Thayer Academy (day), Buckingham Browne and Nichols (day), Commonwealth School (day), Boston University Academy (day), Beaver Country Day School, Brimmer and May School, The Winsor School if you’re a girl (day). Boston Latin is an exam school (tuition is free but you have to live in Boston to attend, and take an entrance exam) and is really, really good. Roxbury Latin and Belmont Hill is you’re a boy.

Just keep in mind that most day schools won’t be able to admit you in less your parents move to the area and handle the visa situation themselves. Boarding schools provide housing and visas, which are usually necessary for international students.

george school in PA is boarding/day (about 50/50) and as an internation student you can recieve up to 50% financial aid. also, there arn’t many vietnemese (sorry if i butchered that) students here which i believe ups your chances of getting in

Why are you asking? I can see that you are also looking at colleges in another post. You have been around this forum for a long time and can probably answer this question better than the kids who are trying to give you advice. I believe that you are a second year Junior already. I think you should focus on your college search instead of looking for another high school.
