Its always just a crapshoot with these schools no matter how good your stats are, academically you look fine its just EC’s and a hook that really matter at this point. I;ve known kids who i though were shoe-ins get rejected and people who i never thought would’ve gotten in get accepted.

Mid-Reach/Match:
cmu
rice
brown
dartmouthuc berkley
cornell
upenn

I feel like you’d probably have a bit of a choice with these but i definitely wouldnt call them safteys, also really depends what you plan on majoring in.

Everything else looks like your pretty safe though, as long as that SAT score gets up a bit.

I must ask though, what are you planning to major? Barely any of those schools have anything in common in terms of strengths in academics. It looks like you just grabbed a top 20 list.

Hope this helps!

Wat.

@nermfwaja
im going to engineering and comp sci. the thing is: im gunna go to grad school to get phd so undergrad wont matter much.

@nermfwaja
yep your list is exactly like mine
thanks for your input

You need some safeties…this list is too heavy on reaches and matches. If you are female, you might want to look at some of the traditional women’s colleges. You might also take a look at Tulane as well as Pitt or Delaware Honors.

Well if your doing engineering and compsci then i wouldnt look at brown/harvard/yale/princeton. CMU is definitely a good school that is a bit more feasible to get into rather than MIT and Stanford. That being said check out UT Austin, the normal compsci program is medicore but the turing scholars program was ranked independently in the top 5 programs in the nation. I’ve got a friend who goes there, he just finished freshman year and has a facebook internship this summer and already landed a research position. It is completely independent from the normal programs and they have tiny clases, the cirriculum is completely different and far more fast paced/practical than the normal program.
