I've heard that UF is all greek life and that if you are not in a frat life sucks. Is this true? I'm considering UF and the only thing holding me back is the fear of not getting a bid from a frat and then having a crappy time in college.

4 out of 5 men and women are NOT in a Fraternity or Sorority. On a campus of almost 50,000 students, you’ll find plenty to do that’s not greek related, especially after your freshmen year. This is a campus with close to a 1,000 clubs; you will find that your main problem will be with having too many distractions and demands on your time (if you choose to get “engaged”).

Well, if you want to go greek I’m very certain you can get a bid from some fraternity. There are lots of them…

But if you don’t really care about the greek thing that much, I can guarantee you can have fun without it. In fact it’s usually the case that people need to be careful they don’t have too much fun… for fear of letting grades slide

Of course you can still have fun! It all stems from making friends, which can come from not just student organizations, but also dorms & classes. Granted, it is a lot easier if you’re part of an organization (especially a Greek one), and your social life would be a lot more hectic, but it’s not hard to have a social life without one (which is what I did freshman year). Also, like Gator88NE said, there are so many clubs on campus that you’ll DEFINITELY find some way to network and have fun.
