Can you P/NP R&C?

Just curious since they let you do that on your breadth reqs! Thanks!

It might depend on the college, but CoE you need to take them for a letter grade.

What about Haas (I think they require lg… but I’m not entirely sure :/)… and econ? I’ve done some research on my own, but I’m not entirely sure…

thanks!

Letter Grade

Pretty sure it’s letter grade for everyone

Depends on what you’re asking. It’s physically possible because Tele-bears lets you change into P/NP. However, if you choose to change to P/NP, it won’t satisfy your R&C requirement and you’ll have to take another class for a letter grade.

For HAAS, you must take a letter grade for all its prereqs. So you must take an R&C for a letter grade. I’m surprised you ask this though, because I view R&Cs as “GPA buffers”.

It looks like all required R&C courses need to be taken for a letter grade. (If you brought in transfer, AP, or IB credit that fulfills part or all of R&C, then you effectively have a P grade for Berkeley GPA purposes.)

It won’t fulfill your requirement if you P/NP, but you definitely can P/NP if you’re failing and want to save your GPA.

Ye, I’ve checked and most colleges require LG. I’ll take it next semester, but I was just wondering haha. Thanks for all the responses :)!

If you’re doing really bad, just P/NP it and pick another R/C class next semester.

lol
