Okay, so my roommate is one of those people that goes to UC for insurance and so her parents will continue to pay for things. She has probably close to 70 units complete. However, only about 12 of the are UC transferable (she went to trade school at CC). Also, her GPA is only around a 2.5, if that. She won't have a transferrable math complete by spring either. She is hoping/planning that her dad can make a donation to get her into UCSD. She applied this fall. If her dad paid UCSD like 15k would she have a shot at them letting her in. I told her not to bother since public universities don't do that, and it's work better at say USC.

Has anyone heard of a UC accepting a completely unqualified transfer due to a donation? I personally will be really angry if she is accepted seeing as I am working so hard to try and get in. Oh and her major is Biology and she has only completed Into to Bio and no chemistry.

I meant to say shes at a CCC not UC. Yeah I don’t think they were planning on donating that much, more like 15-20k or so. My initial though on that was no, they could just accept a qualified OOSU student.

15K is peanuts for college donations. Take John Kluge who donated $400 million to Columbia or Ratan N. Tata who also donated $50 million to Harvard.

Haha that’s kind of what I thought. She’s thinking that she is for sure in. Who knows maybe she lied to about how much her dad was planning on donating, I know that they have lots of money. I guess I’ll find out in April haha

number one she needs 60 units or automatic reject
number 2, a 2.5 =…?
tell her to get her act together and take classes during winter, 18 units during spring, classes during summer, and apply next fall.

and 18k is nothing compared to a university’s endowment. Like others have said, maybe 1,000,000 ++++, and USC would probably do it for like 5,000,000+

Haha I was actually really wondering, only since she’s been telling people were going to keep living together after “we” transfer. And I wasn’t sure to me 15k-20k is a LOT of money and if you’re going to pay full tuition then maybe. I mean what’s one more student for a free 20k. That and I’m *ed cuz I’m working my ass off for finals and she’s not doing * because everything gets handed To her to free.

she can save the 15K by improving her grades and getting to 60 units + signing a TAG. A much more favorable option in my eyes (not that I have 15K I could donate LOL)

hahahaha. She’s been at CC for 2 years and I think has passed like 5 classes. Her major is Bio and she just got a C in Bio 100. She isn’t dumb just probably the laziest person I’ve ever met, which is why shes trying to buy her way into school rather than just put in effort to pull a B average. And yeah I guess I do resent her a little haha, I wish i got all my stuff paid for, for failing out of community college.
