<p>I recently got my score report from the June SAT and got a score that was a lot lower (honestly guys, i usually score 12s) than predicted. Does my handwriting count a lot for the graders? My handwriting was pretty bad the day of the test because i had been using mechanical pencils for so long and had to use a no 2 pencil for the test. Any help is appreciated.</p>

<p>Handwriting has to be legible, and probably does have an effect on certain readers. The whole grading process is a little ludicrous and subjective if that’s your question…-3 = 72 is a perfect normal curve… Not sure what the problem is.</p>
<p>Not sure what you mean by “can you regrade the essay”. Do you want peers to assess a typed version, or do you want to send a regrade report back to CB?</p>
<p>3 wrong = -4 which is a 72, yes. It’s normal.
Also, handwriting shouldn’t have an effect, as long as it’s legible. And if you didn’t get a score of 0 (and I’m assuming you didn’t), then it was legible.
There’s no guarantees for a 12. It’s a matter of luck sometimes. I got an 11 this essay and felt I deserved a 12. It doesn’t matter much, in the end. You need to understand how the graders - well - grade in order to consistently get a 10+. Or you just need to be an amazingly quick thinker with fantastic writing skills and 300 examples gained through general knowledge throughout your life, and possess the critical thinking needed in order to successfully exploit it for your topic - in 25 minutes. It’s not an easy feat for anyone.
Rest assured, just because you didn’t get a 12, doesn’t mean you’re not a good writer. It’s very subjective (the scoring process for the essays.)</p>
