Can you take the SAT Subject tests during any HS year?

I know you have to take the PSAT during Jr year for it to 'count', but can you take the SAT Subject area tests at any time? So whatever year you finish Alg 2, might be a good time to take the math subject test, even if it is your freshman or sophomore year?

Also...I see people referring to SAT II, or SAT 2...are they just referring to subject tests, or something else?

Thanks!

I believe that you can take the SAT subject tests during any year of high school, and I think that when people say SAT II they are referring to the subject tests.

SAT (and ACT too) wipes out scores if they are labeled as being before high school. So for them to stay on the system the scores have to reflect grade 9 or later as the date taken.

It is usually best to take subject tests at the end of the school year when they are offered so it is not too onerous to review a lot of material at a later date. The exceptions would be languages and Math.

Yeah, you can. I’m a freshman and I’m gonna take the SAT II bio test on June 2nd. (I’m so screwed) Anyway, the way my school does it is that it teaches a different science every year. Freshman year is Biology, Sophomores is Chemistry, Juniors is Physics.
