I received a rejection letter for Fall term 2013, but Cornell is my dream school. Is it possible to apply for a transfer to Cornell for spring term freshman year? I know most people apply for a transfer to Cornell for fall term of sophomore year, but I want to attempt to get into Cornell as soon as possible. However, if it's most beneficial to wait to start fall term of sophomore year, I will try to wait. Can anyone help or offer advice? Thanks!

Jayvita,

I felt the exact same way of your situation at this time of last year. However, Cornell requires that applicants have at least 12 college credits from either an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university. So before you apply for transfer, you have to have at least 12 credit hours under your belt. (This excludes AP/IB credit and any college credit earned while in high school). I’m sorry this happened to you, but I bet that you were most likely very qualified to study at Cornell. If you have any other questions, please let me know, I would be glad to help!

@Jayvita You should wait until fall 2014 to transfer. It’s much more beneficial to you and the school to have a full year of college under your belt. I’m applying to transfer for fall 2013 after getting rejected last year, and Cornell historically/statistically accepts more incoming sophomore transfers.

Thanks for the help guys! Yeah, I’ll probably wait and transfer for Fall term 2014.
@ravidrim, Are fall 2013 transfers results out yet? Good luck!

For anyone that may be wondering, I called Cornell’s admissions office and was informed that you CANNOT apply for a transfer to Cornell for spring term of freshman year. You must wait a year. Hope this was helpful!
