Canada 2005

I thought we could use a new thread for Canadian schools this year. It is so nice knowing that withen the year I will be sending out my apps!!! (I am in the class of 2006)

Anyway

I was wondering if anyone could provide insight into some other canadian schools I might be interested in. I want to go into engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) and so far McGill and U Toronto are on my canada list. (I am a US resident, btw) I was looking at some smaller seemingly "LAC" schools like StFX and some of them have engineering programs (unlike LAC's here like Grinnell etc.). How good are these? Also, if anyone has any other schools besides these that I might be interested in (in canada) feel free to reply.

Waterloo is definitely the leading Canadian school for engineering...

I second the Waterloo thing... I've heard they have an excellent reputation for engineering. I hear UBC is not bad as well... it is on the West Coast though (in beautiful Vancouver!).
As for my Canada list (I'm in the class of 2006 as well), it's long because I live in Canda and intend to stay here (unless I get a major scholarship to somewhere... but I hear the States aren't big on merit-based scholarships... I think they are more need-based, which doesn't really work for me). I'm most likely going into Political Science... my top couple choices include McGill, Queen's and Ottawa (the nation's capital might be a good place for politics, no?). I wouldn't go to Toronto because I'm not really a Toronto person... it really doesn't appeal to me and it is way too big. I'd rather be a person instead of a number. But yeah... good luck!

Yeah Toronto does seem kind of large, but I am keeping it on the list until I visit in summer. The size may or may not bother me, not sure yet

How does a school like SFX compare to an American LAC? Roughly, what is its equivalent in America? Note that SFX is the top LAC in Canada.
