Ah good question mrclassicfreak. I've been wondering too. Because I really don't feel like taking provincials if I get accepted to an US school.

During the Ivy League info session I attended in Van a while ago, the reps said they will be looking at your provincial marks (although, on my transcript for example, it just shows the combined marks...).

It wouldn't hurt to write them anyways... if your teacher has taught you well enough and given you reasonable tests, the provincial exams will be pretty easy...

Argh.. I just don't want the pressure after admittance.

samuelc are you taking about the session at the Marriot??

yes(10char)

Ah I was there too :]

Haha I was at the Ivy talk at the Marriott as well.

It's insane how many people were there that day =S

Omg I know... and just thinking about a room packed with people who will be competing for spots at those schools is nerve-racking :S

haha its not that bad. cut that number down by about half.

so many people there were only in gr 11 and 10. keeners =P

I know a couple of grade EIGHTS who went there :p

Anyways, where's everybody applying?

Oh right... forgot about the other grades :P Who cares about them anyways... haha jk jk

Probably too many schools. But I'm paranoid like that.

Brown ED
Dartmouth

haha Yale SCEA. but umm yea i dont really have much of a shot there cause someone else in my grade is applying who's a legacy and athlete.

and a bunch of schools regular.

mcgill and UWO richard ivey are my canadian backups.

UBC's the only Canadian school I'm allowed to apply to :P My mom thinks that there's no point going east if I didn't get into an US school.

haha really?

i'd like. cry if i had to stay at UBC. but thats cause i live like 10 minutes away from it it'll be like living at home all over again =P i reallyy want to get out of here.

but UBC is defs a good school. a lotta my friends are there.

University of a
Billion
Chinese, eh? :D

UofT, McGill, and Waterloo are most definitely my safety... I know some people who transferred from UBC to UofT, and they like UofT much more - bigger, more opportunities.

I was going to apply to UofT and McGill... but my mom won't let me :[

I<3Pi, who is really going to college, you or your mom? Grow up, kid, learn to think for yourself, and learn rhetoric reasoning to persuade others of what you plan to do. The goal of college isn't to acquire some random knowledge off a text book. Instead, college is about learning how to learn, learning how to think like a real, independent thinker. I even doubt that Yale or any top school would desire a candidate who can't even make up his or her mind simply because of the "my mom said..." factor.

By the way, I'm from vancouver as well.

Brinksmanship has its uses :P

But you know... I'm not the one who's paying the application fees :P

And you know what else? I am an independent thinker thank you very much. My parents didn't even know what the SAT is when I made up my mind to apply to the US. They haven't provided my with an ounce of help with my applications besides financially. And after consideration I've decided that my mom's reasons were valid and that is why I'm only applying to UBC.
