I'm a canadian citizen planning to apply Early Decision for Penn, mainly because I don't want to waste it. One of my top choices is McGill University, which would be financially beneficial for me seeing as I am a canadian, but if I could get in Penn with decent financial aid that would be brilliant as well.

I did the Brown Financial Aid calculator and it said Brown would likely give me 47k. That seemed unbelievable. Penn's little chart said that people of 100k-120k income (my family) would get around 30k which is still REALLY good. Would these stats still apply to Canadian citizens? I wouldn't be doing international admission would I?

Also how is Penn compared to Brown in terms of social scene, students, and workload? From what I hear about Brown it's fairly liberal with diverse and friendly kids, with a fairly relaxed courses. Very appealing to me. The reason I'm considering Penn over Brown is that Brown doesn't do need-blind admission, and I'm a bit worried about that, plus 4 other kids (higher class rank and SAT than me) at my school are also EDing Brown.

Thoughts? Thanks.
