I'm currently in first year CEGEP (Quebec "pre-college": grades 12 and 13) in the IB program. Since Quebec universities (and most Canadian universities, for that matter) use R scores rather than GPAs to evaluate academic performance in CEGEP, I was wondering how American colleges treat CEGEP grades and calculate GPAs.

It is common knowlege that grades over 90% are WAY harder to achieve in CEGEP (let alone in the IB program) than in high school, and that Quebec and Ontario both consider 80%+ as an "A".

In fact, for most countries outside the US, 80% is a very good score (=A). I have personal experience.
There is grade inflation in the US and the ADCOMs hopefully know that.

yes exactly what college bound said. My experience is that most adcom's are aware of this and most highschool guidance counsellors' on your secondary school report will put your gpa as 4.0.

I'm from Canada too (woo, go Canada!) but I'm from Ontario. I actually thought it was the reverse--and that there is grade inflation over here in Canada, and that we are at a disadvantage applying from Canada. Ahhhh!!
