Is there a way that I can get loans from my province to go to a US college? I looked into Studentaid BC and their applications come out in June...which seems way too late and does not give me enough time? Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone successfully received loans from the Canadian/Provincial government to study in the US?
How did the process work?

I’m from BC too and what I did was pay the first installment with FA and bank loans and then use the student aid loans for subsequent payments. You could always ask whoever is in charge at your university if you can defer payment or negotiate higher FA etc.

Go back to your own country!

Oh wait you’re white, nevermind.

well actually, the college that I have in mind is UVA and they require a financial guarantee form which proves that I will be able to pay my way through 4 years at UVA. My parents were going pay 1/2 and I was going to apply for loan from the BC government for the other 1/2. BUT - the application for the BC Loan 2010-2011 year is coming out in June. I don’t think I’m going to have enough time to finish the application (there is a form that UVA has to fill out!) and then see how much I get before I have to turn in the financial guarantee form to get my visa…

disgradius, are you saying that for the first semester, for example, I should pay in bank loans and pocket money (UVA doesn’t give FA for international students) and then after that, pay in BC loans?

I’m confused… but thanks for the response.
