Hey i have posted this on multiple sites before but NEVER got a straight , good answer.

Im an 18 yr old living in canada who just graduated in June 2014.

My literal GOAL is to study in the United States.

I have done my research and i am taking the ACT test very soon. I predict my ACT grade to be 28-32. My grades are decent (i will give you run down of my grades if anyone requests), no i am not 4.00 GPA student (my GPA 3.2-3.6 i am not sure exactly sure what it is since the we don't have the GPA system here) though the desire of me wanting to go to the US is so much as to say that i dont even care what university i go to. I just to LIVE in United States. (I have decided to be in SoCal location wise)
My only need is to study in a decent (even .."okay") university.

I ask you , this community, to GUIDE me to EXACTLY what i need to to achieve my goal.
Which universities do i apply to? how? what is realistic chances of me going to ANY university in SoCal?

Actually, Cost is absolutely not an issue, lets just say the FULL amount required is covered

Also, what information do you need exactly? i can provide them
and thanks for those suggestions i do like the look and sound of
University of San Diego , Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine

You are correct. I just dont like Canada. period. I did not enjoy the place i was grown up in. And there endless reasons why. Boring, people are rude , high cost of living, shit weather etc the list goes

If you think the cost of living is high where you live in Canada, you may not like Southern Cal any better. Have you asked your parents what they’re willing to pay every year?

well i dont know if they are eager or not (however they did say they will miss me) But they told me that whatever decision i make , they will support me

Gosh I’ve heard so many ppl saying Canada sucks, that people are not smart, very lazy, slow and etc…
I suggest you look CC’s forum called Top Universities and Colleges and search for schools. We can’t help you much if you don’t tell us what you want to major in, interests, public/private school, area

I’m unclear what your question is that you can’t get answered. Not one here is an admission officer. You pick colleges and apply and see. You absolutely can go to one because there are a good range of colleges at different levels of difficulty and easiness to get in. You were given some good suggestions above. You would have had a good chance at some of the public uni’s but the application period is over. need to do some self help here. There are a good number of colleges in socal. Look them up, look to see if you meet admission requirements and look at the scores of accepted students once you get your score so you know what is likely or not yourself. You can afford to look into the schools and pick ones you like in a location you like. You are late-ish in the admission process if you haven’t taken any SAT or ACT at this time.

University of San Diego
Whittier College
Loyola Marymount
Pepperdine - I don’t usually recommend this because there are some religious attendance req’s)
University of Redlands
Loma Linda
Soka University
Occidental
Pitzer
California Lutheran
University of Laverne

Even though you missed the UC and Cal State admissions you can always go to a community college which are pretty much open enrollment and transfer after 2 years. Santa Monica College and Santa Barbara City College are especially good one, but there are many and you might pick depending on what you are interested in studying, some have strong depts.

Thank you this the answer I was looking for. Descriptive and helpful.
And by the way I forgot to mention that I don’t really have a time limit so I’m okay applying for next semester or next year. As long as I get in. I will look Into those universities. Really really hope I get admitted into a nice socal school . It would literally be my dream come true

I’m not sure what your trying to imply?
If you think that it’s only me that thinks people are rude here, I suggest you come here, see and ask around yourself. Also if you search for “Vancouver, most boring city” in Google you’ll understand what I mean when I’m trying to describe the city I live in.

Emilking, Vancouver is an AMAZING city, but I guess not for you. To each his own, taste and colors, etc, etc.
I don’t recommend Pepperdine or Soka, because they’re religious (not just religious-affiliated), same thing for Laverne, Westmont, Biola, Asuza, etc.
You’re an international, which means that the domestic deadlines don’t apply to you depending on the CSU. In other words, your odds are pretty good if you apply to:
CPP (Cal Poly Pomona - STEM fields)
Channel Islands
Chico
Long Beach
Monterey Bay
San Marco
SDSU (San Diego State)

Since money is no concern, add USan Diego, URedlands, St Mary’s of California, U San Francisco, LMU-LA, Whittier, Chapman, perhaps Occidental, Pitzer as reaches. If you like the sunny, hot, dry weather, apply to ASU (and, why not, ASU Barrett) as well as UArizona.
