I'm road tripping it down to Austin with about 15 other architecture students from Feb.28 to Mar.2, and we rented a cabana near campus. We're from Winnipeg and are checking out a Landscape architecture conference at the University.

It'd be wicked to experience some of the college party atmosphere, any suggestions on where to go/what to do??

If you want a hamburger, go to hopdoddy. It is amazing. Get the goodnight. It is on south congress, free parking garage. There will be a line to get in and it is well worth the wait.

I live in austin and go there a lot. They also have a bar.

Dorms parties are not allowed. UT entertainment events are usually organized
either by UT Housing, and since most of students living on campus are 18-19 y.o. freshmen, it’s more about free movies, magicians, comedians, karaoke, paintball etc
or entertainment committees - movies, concerts, festivals, invited guests/speakers etc

Everything that involves alcohol is outside UT campus.
I personally get information about parties from UT police reports - who was arrested for underage drinking, where and when. Based on police reports I believe the main place for parties is West Campus (sorority and fraternity houses). You need to ask S or F members about them.

It is very possible that that particular weekend Feb 28-March 2 it will be no parties since March 7-16 is SXSW (and Spring break). SXSW is famous for free parties and free alcohol (ID required)

And I almost forgot that March 1 is UT Explore, the annual university Open House. <a href=“University Events | What Starts Here Changes the World”>University Events | What Starts Here Changes the World;
It will be children everywhere, face painting and other family oriented activities. Most of students will volunteer (sororities and fraternities, I believe, have community service requirements, so they will participate). I doubt it will be appropriate time for any parties.
6th street is the best place to go.
