How do Canadian universities regard IB predicted grades in comparison to GPA and SAT?
I am in an international school in South East Asia and have 42 predicted (3 bonus) IB points.
Since I took more higher level courses than my peers my GPA is decent but not excellent.
My SAT is 2100.

Will they focus on my predicted IB points or GPA?

ok, I live near Vancouver and I’ve applied to 3 universities in Canada: ubc, uwaterloo, and mcgill: i’ll probably get into all three universities. Canadian universities care a lot about your grade 12 GPA, for most universities their decision is almost solely based on these grades given that u’ve taken all the required courses. Everything else (ec, awards, etc) is taken into account when they are making scholarship decisions.
I think ubc is the only uni in canada that actually requires essays and takes ecs into account for their admission decisions.
As for the IB program, 42 is definitely high enough i believe… for ubc… and probably mc gill, toronto, etc. UBC’s policies towards ib students are quite generous, my friend with a predicted grade of 37 got in. Other unis, not so much, still 42 is high enough.
Ur SATs are not sub par either.
Honestly i’ll be surprised if u don’t get in.
Canadian unis are relatively easy to get in, just hard to graduate.

outis95, what minimum sat is required for those canadian universities you mentioned and others?
waterloo, mcgill, ubc, toronto, alberta, uwo, calgary, queens, dalhousie

As far as McGill is concerned it does vary pretty wildly from a major to another. For some majors a 1850 is enough while BiomedE, architecture, biology, MechE and ChemE all require ~2050.

U Toronto and UBC is roughly in the 1900 range for most non-business majors, and I believe most Canadian Us don’t demand much more.
