Hi,

I was wondering if you guys knew of any Canadian colleges/unis that give great aid/scholarships to international students? At LEAST full tuition. And some room and board would be great too. lol

The entire reason universities admit international students is to generate extra money via international student fees. It is very difficult for domestic students to even get full ride scholarships, so unless you are a genius level individual you will have a very difficult time finding a Canadian University that will give you free tuition + room and board expenses.
However in some departments like engineering at McGill you can do co-op programs where you intern for 6 months or a year and you can get good money that way to help cover your tuition.
Frankly your best bet is probably to do an undergrad degree in your own country then to come to Canada for graduate school if you want where you will get a stipend that covers tuition and it is easier to get scholarships and awards.

Okay, America it is. Thanks for the response.

But I did some research and a few Canadian schools do in fact give amazing money. Some are modest, but doable. But I guess it’s better for me to focus on American unis.

All Canadian universities worth their name are public so they have an obligation to educate Canadian citizens and therefore foreign students have to serve a purpose to be admitted: either they are rising academic superstars who the university feels will be able to make up for their tuition costs with the research they generate, or more often they are a source of funding through international fees. Therefore the aid to internationals is generally modest. Some of the smaller universities may offer you some money but not likely a full free tuition. For example I know that University of Windsor has a special program that offers domestic student prices to American students.

As you mentioned, the US with its large selection of private universities may offer you better chances to get a full ride scholarship. But be aware though as an international it will be harder for you to get scholarships than a domestic student even in the private university sector in US.

However as mentioned before it is much easier to get scholorships here as a graduate student: eg. phd students in sciences at McGill get the same tuition rates as domestic students ($5000) and have equally large stipends and almost universal access to graduate awards. So if you plan on doing grad school maybe take a look at Canadian Universities at the end of your undergrad.

Good luck, I hope you succeed!

Which schools would they be? I’ve never heard of any Canadian university giving amazing money to internationals. There are very few full tuition scholarships even to Canadian citizens/residents, let alone tuition plus housing costs.
