Canadian universities and extracurriculars

So I am in high school in US right now and plan to apply to some Canadian universities. I work very hard in aspects outside school, but I heard from some people that Canadian Universities do not look at or consider your extracurricular when making an acceptance/rejection decision. Is this true? Also do they care if you take the Sat instead of the Act?

Look at each Canadian university website under US admission requirements. At McGill for example it is UW GPA and SAT or ACT scores. EC’s are irrelevant for admission but for merit aid it is EC’s, essays, letters of rec etc.

I’m assuming that volunteering would go under EC and would not be used to determine admission?

Correct.

Only Queen’s looks at extracurriculars.

^^ Not true. Whether or not a university considers your extracurriculars is program specific. Programs at U of T, Waterloo, UBC, Ryerson, McMaster, York and probably others, all consider your extracurriculars.
