Sorry to sidetrack a little; I know you guys can give me reliable advice.
I am in grade 11 now and took ‘last November’ sat physics(780), math ii(800), and Korean(800). Since I am a determined future physicist, I hated my physics score and retook it in ‘January’ but had not studied-what a shame!!- and got the same 780…

I read on cc that all the sat ii scores are sent to univs and had better not take it multiple times. My problem is that I want to get 800 so so badly on physics. If it were some other subject I would be happy with 780, but, for physics, it is hard to bear. Should I or not? Taking it three times is lethal?

Don’t do it. It’s more than enough and it makes you look like you have OCD if you keep retrying it. (It’d be even worse if you get 780 a 3rd time).

i wouldn’t take it again. i know it sucks that you got 780 again, but especially for the subject tests, even more than once isn’t too great, but 3 times is bad, at least i heard that on CC.

also, guys are subject tests easy to get 780/800 in? wanna know if it takes a lot of work to get those scores, cause i gotta prep for ACT later on.

Math II is the easiest to get 800 (well if you’re done adv funcs)

^i havent done advanced functions…and would’ve only done like 1 month of it before the SAT subject test…what do you think? hard to get 800…with self prep?

Don’t really know…I had already finished both gr 12 adv funcs and gr 12 calc when I took Math II so it was pretty much a breeze for me.

But it shouldn’t be hard if you’re decent at maths.

prjiki:

Have you considered applying to ISSYP at the Perimeter Institute? If you love physics that might interest you.

Posting for my son:

ON

Applied to HYPM and Cornell

Waiting on HYP and Cornell
Rejected MIT
Accepted Nanotechnology Engineering at UW

My son is good at everything but loves nothing.
I wish he were as interested and ambitious as the students posting here!

^hey, could you let me know how the decision with Cornell goes? seems like not many canadians on this forum apply there. i am very interested in cornell, so it would be cool to know how a fellow Ontario student fares inn admissions.

@reno: Thank you so much for ISSYP info. I had no idea such a program existed! It sure looks good except that the application is closed this year. I called and bugged the lady there but got ‘no’…Well, next year, for sure. Thanks again.

i’ve applied to cornell.
if i get in, it’ll be tough to decide between cornell, columbia or penn…

Prjiki:

You are welcome! I’m very sorry you missed the deadline. I heard that the ISSYP students will get a chance to meet Stephen Hawking when he visits in the summer.

yahhhh! berkeley!!

columbia, ucla, berkeley, more to come…

Congrats! I would suggest Columbia out of those.

yeah, especially since they have financial aid haha
