I didn’t get in :’( @dearestcurry @predent Did either of you? If so can predent list stats?

Don’t feel bad, only 12 high school students get in! As for me, I have yet to get any info. Did they email or call you? and I previously posted my stats but forgot a couple things and left some other stuff out. If I do get in I’ll elaborate.

@predent I didn’t get any emails either
Mebbe it was rejection first? Idek I’m still nervous

@sravvu785 what were your stats? Maybe we can point out kings to improve for the next opportunity!

I doubt that they just send out rejections like that. I think it’s more incorporated.

@predent wait what do you mean? Per professor?

And did you get an email @predent

No email and I’m really not sure. I’m not expecting much anyways though. I’m going to leave for probably about a half hour and check every 30 minutes or so so I don’t spend too much time on my email and not doing my work.

@sravvu785 Can you post a copy/paste of what the email said?

I’m getting impatient now o.O

It was a straight forward rejection:

Dear Canary Center Internship Applicant,

We would like to thank you for your sending us your application for our summer internship program. We appreciate the time you took to apply and we were excited to receive your materials and hear more about your professional interests.

We have finalized our selection process and reviewed your application. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you a summer internship position this year. The internship program received an overwhelming number of qualified applications in a very competitive year. It was a difficult decision considering your experience and outstanding academic record. This decision is in no way a refection of you or your scientific potential. We would encourage you to pursue your scientific research interests in many different avenues.

Thank you for considering an internship at our organization. We encourage you to reapply to next year’s program or check our website for other opportunities that may come up.

Best wishes in your career pursuits.

@dearestcurry
here are my stats please help out if you can!!

2230 SAT (1450 CR + math not that great I know)
Currently taking AP Bio, AP Calc AB, and AP Computerscience
Basic JAVA and coding experience
Volunteered at a couple locatoins including food pantry and I should begin volunteering at stanford blood center very soon.
Extracurriculars:
Trombone for 6 years
Tennis
ELC (Conference where I met knew people and made new relationships)
For application I talked about my adaptiveness as a leader and my ability to communicate very well. I mentioned my inclination towards bio and how I was enjoying the class very much. I don’t know if I put this on the applicatoin, but I managed to open up a Science national Honor Society club a couple monhts ago, it may have been after I submitted the application :"(

@sravvu785 Which topics did you apply to?

@sravvu785 I think it would’ve been better if the science nhs was there and I think an essay about just enjoying something isn’t good enough. But hey, I haven’t gotten an email yet so I might not have gotten in either

Are u a junior?
Also @purified and @predent
Did you guys get emails yet?

@sravvu785 I don’t necessarily know how the committee thinks yet (as I have yet to be reviewed and no nothing about the specifics of your essay and whether or not it was a rogue case) but I do believe that you had just as good of a shot as any of us. Now an essay about enjoying science could do perfectly fine, that being if it was sincere, authentic, and well written. However, that type of essay may just not be palatable to this particular committee. Maybe an essay about your aptitude would be better fit. I am at this point unable to make such a conclusion.

@dearestcurry I have not yet received any information
At this point I doubt notification will arrive today.

I sent in an inquiry. I hope they respond by tomorrow.

@predent pls informs us of what she says!

Will do!

One more piece of possibly disheartening news… my friend got in four days ago. I think the previous post about the list of people who made it in was not a lie. Sorry guys just what I know @predent I totally understand what you are saying about enjoying something I spent most of the application talking about my ability to interact with others… oh well as long as I am always applying something should come up next year especially since I managed to open up that club!

@sravvu785 @predent I don’t think they have made all the selections yet that’s why it’s so disjointed
