Canceling scores

Hi, I'm a junior in high school and am currently well, freaking out.

Ok, as a sophomore, I took two SAT subject tests and in my naivete sent the scores before I knew what they were because they were free. I really don't like one of the scores, and so I want to cancel it. Can I? Is it too late? If it is too late, can I just submit a newer test score for that same test to override the old test? Please help, I really don't want colleges thinking I'm stupid already -_-'

Cancellation is something that can be done only before a test score comes out. Thus, the IIs are there and you cannot get rid of them. Many of the colleges that require IIs will consider the only the highest two scores submitted (in different subjects) and thus taking it again or even just taking others can effectively eliminate a poor score. However there are some, such as Harvard and Princeton that will consider any sent even only two are required.

A second avenue is exercising College Board’s score choice when you send scores in the future if the particuolar college to which you are applying allows it meaning you get to choose scores you send and choose not send others. However, many colleges require you to send all scores and not excercise score choice. Moreover, that won’t help with ones to which you already sent the scores. Also, check with high school, because many of them put all your scores on your official high school transcript that gets sent.

A third avenue is of course to apply to colleges that don’t require IIs and don’t use them in admission (which is the vast majority of colleges)
