It is said (no apparent source) that someone reported to College Board that some people got the answers before the test, and the Oct scores might be cancelled.

I happened to know that a teacher of mine, who is a member of CB, received an e-mail about the cheating. He told me CB is serious this time and they are trying to decide when the answer was leaked--- was it before the test, or after--- but I have found discussion on the March test on this website, which could be a problem.

If the scores are cancelled, I would be DEVASTATED, because I cannot submit a decent score for ED.

Does anyone else know any information about the cheating and cancellation? Please share it!

BTW, I am a test taker in China.

I too have heard that some South Korean academies got a hold of the test answers. I think at worst, the South Korean test scores will get cancelled. Every year, dumb college board reuses tests for international when they know the internationals have every single test ever published. Stupid.

@PorcupineCup I agree with you, it should be CB’s fault… They cannot ruin my application in this way!

@PorcupineCup South Korea cheated again this Oct? But they were caught for selling test papers before the test in May, and they did that again?

I do not believe that you have anything to worry about if you took the test in China, unless of course, there are reasons to believe that cheating took place in China and that the October test there was also compromised.

The cheating scandal that has recently erupted is, insofar as the public knows, limited to South Korea, where an undisclosed number of academies apparently had access to the October test beforehand and allegedly taught it to the students in exchange for exborbitant fees of over $20,000 per student.

I speak very carefully here because I do not want to accuse anyone of what is so far hearsay and speculation, but it does appear that some sort of extensive investigative inquiry and heavy punitive measures are forthcoming, although I would not be surprised at all to see College Board and ETS deny any type of cheating and brush the scandal under the rug, as has often happened.

We should just hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. No one wants to be cancelled. October test score is so important for everyone who wants to ED and EA.
