Cancelling Ap Scores

Hey Guys,
Last year in the Ap Psych. exam I got a 2, if I cancel this score, would colleges still be able to see my score and if they won’t be able to, would they look at me not taking the ap exam even after taking the class as an ominous sign.
Thanks

got a 2 on APUSH and just did not report it on the common app or any other college app. How will the college be able to see your score if you do not send it to them or tell them?

So If I don’t report it on the common app and only self report the ones I want them to see, they will never know? I’m just asking because then woudn’t the point to cancel scores be futile, because one of my friends told me he cancelled two scores by actually calling college board so is there no need for that? Thanks very much

Yes, canceling AP scores is completely useless and not needed. AP scores are self-reported on the application and when you send your scores to the school you choose to attend, it goes to the registrar’s office, not admissions. Admissions will never see it if you don’t tell them.

You cannot cancel scores after June 15th of the year that you took the exam. You can withhold a score from being sent, but there is a fee involved.

Since you only send your AP scores to the college you will be attending, it really id pointless to withhold. At that point, admissions won’t even see them, only the registrar’s office will, and they are only going to use them to assess what credit will be given.

Having said that, some high schools will list all standardized testing, including AP scores, on the transcript. If you truly want to play that game and hide your score, make sure it is not on your transcript.

Thanks for the reply, and yeah unfortunately my high school does list all AP scores on the transcript, do you think my gc will be able to fix this and if she doesn’t would it adversely affect my chances of getting in since a 2 is a really bad score.

Your GC should be able to have it removed from your transcript. Regardless, AP scores carry little to no weight in the admissions process. I would not worry.
