My Son attending Session One as well. He also received his candidate letter today. We won’t get started until his return. He is also having a busy summer working, taking a programming class and taking the ACT the day after he gets back. Whew! it has been quite a year and it looks like the activity level will continue!

Can’t wait to see how your week 1 kids like NASS! Anyone have a daughter going???
Our’s did finally make her flight arrangements an opted to arrive closer to 3:30pm rather than earlier in the day.
This is just a great experience for them, regardless of outcome. I will be curious as to how she ends up analyzing AFAss to USNA.
Friends’ son did USNA and West Point last summer. He said they were both great but the academies had TOTALLY different feels. He came away applying to both, but knowing that WP was where he would fit the best. He is headed there this summer!
This journey is fascinating, isn’t it?!?!

T

All the very best to you all…

The journey is very fascinating as well as surprising and long. To see what these kids are doing to get ready is in itself impressive.

I have been to the school and I’m looking forward to eating in the town, there were some really nice places to eat. I have no guilt!!!

Taben112, As I recall your DD is going to session 2 correct?

For anyone with a DD/DS going to NASS: A friend of mine from church went to NASS last year, and had a BLAST! He said he really enjoyed it, and came home tired, but extremely excited and motivated. He still has some mud stains on some of his clothes; they do play in the dirt a little. He still wears his NASS and USNA shirts all the time.

The other night my high school had its senior awards night, and among the awards presented, the only military related scholarship/appointment awarded to anyone at our school (I think) was given from USNA to that same guy.

Good stuff, I tell my DS. We are avid outdoorsmen (hunting, fishing, etc.) so getting muddy will sit quite well with him.
