Candidates for Class of 2012, where are you from?

That's great for your son! Congratulations!

ww2buff thanks for the information. My son called his local rep (Sam Johnson) on Thursday (12.20) and was told by the office staff that they still haven't made their decision yet. He left a VM for the person responsible for the nominations, but hasn't received a return call yet.

S. got a letter of congrats. 0n Dec.17 from Sen. Bond (Mo.)on receiving an appointment .......dodmerb site shows "offer extended" Dec.14.....but still no USNA notification.

Got a good Christmas present today. came home from being out of town for Christmas and my offer of Appointment was in my mail box!!!

Got the big envelope today from USNA Admissions Office.......dated Dec. 14....guess it came "around Cape Horn" getting here..but it made it ..Horray ! ! S. was most impressed with the official certificate. Now, decision time !

congrats greeneagle

I'm from Maryland, and have accepted my appointment.

congrats, MIDN2012...so many appointment offers are being extended now, and it looks like a great class for Annapolis (hopefully I will be given the chance to join you and the others at I-Day this June)...

hey usna2012 dad im from TN too! Knoxville.

Just remember though, you're only seeing the iceberg's tip here on CC. The vast vast majority of appointments are on the come, yet to be offered. Be patient, don't panic. Remember ... just one step at a time.

Charlotte, NC
Appointment Recieved

Less than six months till I-Day...
I cannot wait.

Bet you'll not be saying that a year from now. (We're loading the car to return to The Yard.) :( Our party's over.

Congrats and stay in shape. Get a Reef Points. Start reading.

I disagree with Whistle Pig:

Do NOT get Reef Points. Knowing all your rates sometimes can be a bad thing if no one else does and you know everything by heart. Wait until I-day to study your Reef Points like everyone else, trust me, you won't regret it. You'll know who the ones were studying rates beforehand...

On another note, I would go ahead and learn the military knowledge (ranks /rates of officers, Joint Chiefs of staff, etc) but if you show up on I-day knowing "How's the cow", "Qualifications of a Naval Officer", and "What time is it", you and the rest of your squad will get hammered and you'll get ranked 38th first set, guarunteed.

hey, that's something i've been wondering for a long time. what's the difference between rank and rate?
