Hey, I'm a senior in High School and i'm starting the application process for college, but i wanted some feedback. I have a 3.1-3.2 gpa (i think thats a 84-85) and I'm just about to take the SAT and took a ACT. I've heard about Buffalo, and heard that it has a aeronauctical program, but I wanna know how good is it? I'm also thinking about NYU Poly, University at Arizona, and Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach. I don't have a good gpa, but I've been trying my best by taking the hardest classes my school has to offer and I've done better. My gpa was low (82) during Freshman to Sophmore year but then in Junior year I did better bringing it to a 84.(something). If people who know anything about this can help me out thats amazing! Thank you. Also I'm planning regular decision on everything. Thank You!!!!!

Aerospace engineering is part of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. Check out the thread from a few weeks ago for a discussion on engineering admissions. UB engineering really goes by the numbers (GPA and SAT/ACT), and only looks at the other stuff (strength of schedule, other tests, essay, etc.) when the decision is marginal.

Looks like your GPA is about an 83, which, frankly, is low. The other schools you list are pretty competitive, so I would think they’d look pretty hard at that, too. You’ll have to check out their admissions criteria. Certainly, a really strong SAT/ACT would help your cause.

As mentioned in the other thread, going to the UB engineering open house to see if it’s really for you would be very beneficial. If you really want it, but can’t get in, you can start outside engineering and try transferring in (make sure you have a backup plan if it doesn’t work out).

I actually have a 28 on my ACT and a 8 on the essay. I’m trying really hard and thanks for the response, sorry it took me a while to respond, and also im looking at WPI as well due to their 5 year BA and MA degree program.
