SUNY Binghamton vs. University at Buffalo for Mechanical Engineering

I am currently a freshman (2nd) semester at a CUNY, macaulay honors college interested in majoring in Mechanical Engineering. My home campus doesn't offer engineering and I also dont like the student life at city colleges so I have applied to transfer for Fall 2013 to both and I am unsure to which school would be best for me.

I already received my UB acceptance and i was asked to send in a midterm grade report to Binghamton. (First Semester: 3.92 GPA; HS transcript: 89; SAT overall: 1900)

My parents are more inclined for me to go to binghamton and I was wondering which offers the best degree program in terms of engineering.

Also, side interest would in clude dance clubs which I am aware that both schools have.

Of course University of Buffalo! Binghamton’s engineering is not as great. It’s better known for nursing and business.

Agreed with Lilmelonred.
While Binghamton is a great school, it is not highly regarded for math and engineering.
Buffalo has a great engineering program.

Son was in the same predicament as you, though as a high school senior and because of this, he chose Buffalo. Will graduate with dual engineering majors this May and 3 job offers already. Has had great experience at UB.

By the way, direct flights from JFK and LGA to Buffalo. The airport is only 15 minutes or so from the campuses.

By the way, Buffalo opened up a new dorm for sophomores last year. Greiner Hall. Will be a great place for you!

Good luck. PM me if you have questions.

Oh thanks, glad to hear! Ive actually visited friends in buff a couple times and know the north campus pretty well; i still have yet to visit bing though.
