Can't decide which college to attend

<p>Hello, I'm looking for some advice - I can't choose between two very similar colleges.</p>

<p>My intended majors seem to be equal at both schools, so where I go comes to down to the right "fit."</p>

<p>College A:
- accepted to honors college: guaranteed housing for four years (and suites freshman year), smaller and unique honors-only classes, cool activities, makes big school feel like a small community - big fish, small pond.
- located in a great city that is about forty minutes from home. I'm from the suburbs so despite being close, it's a totally different environment. Another perk is that it wouldn't be far from my boyfriend's college (he will be a junior there so we have already dealt with one of us away at college) but I definitely would not spend a majority of my time there. I anticipate being very busy. :)
- offered merit scholarship so it's cheaper, but there is not a significant price difference. I feel like I'd be a competitive student there. </p>

<p>Negatives:
- close to home. I have a great relationship with my family, but I feel like if I were so close, I'd be obliged to come home more often... And thus, I would not become as independent as I had hoped.
- many of my peers are attending, and my best friend will be in the honors program. For many people, this would be a positive, but this also goes with what I said above - I want to be independent and do my own thing in college. It's a huge school, but the honors program is small.</p>

<p>College B:
- as a freshman, my favorite upperclassmen attended so I've always associated this school with people like them; I suppose it's been my "dream" school. People expect me to go here, too.
- more selective school, has more "prestige", which isn't really important to me, but it's worth noting, I guess. To contrast with College A, I'd feel like a small fish in a huge pond here.
- awesome extra-curricular activities on campus & great study abroad program.
- located in a quirky neighborhood that's about a mile from a large city. Many colleges are in the area, and it feels safe.</p>

<p>Negatives:
- five hours from home. If there were an emergency, it wouldn't be easy to come home and I'll admit, it would suck not being able to see my boyfriend without extensive planning.
- I'm worried that the positives at College A are too much to pass up for this school.</p>

<p>I was accepted to these schools in October so as you can see, I'm having a difficult time making a decision. I've visited both a couple of times and loved them. I apologize for the novel here.</p>

<p>Thanks so much!</p>

<p>Five hours is still a car drive so I wouldn’t include that as a negative, the boyfriend part I can see. There’s something to be said being a big fish in a small pond. Just based on the little that you have provided here, it sounds like you would happy and successful at college A but you’re worried because college B is where you’re “supposed” to go. You haven’t really listed a bunch of reasons why B is better or even different from A. Ultimately, go where you think you’ll thrive.</p>

<p>

Sounds like you think you SHOULD go to College B. I agree with Sadilly. Go where you think you’ll do well.</p>

<p>Clearly you have left the names of the school off intentionally. I am wondering what schools they are. Which are you getting a better financial deal at? It appears A is public and B is private, but that’s just a guess.</p>
